If you didn’t know I have a peanut allergy, but I haven’t had it all my life it developed when I was pregnant with Emma(21 years old). I went to the doctor because I couldn’t figure out why I was vomiting and having explosive…..Diarrhea a few times a week! They told me that something I was eating wasn’t agreeing with my stomach and to keep a journal of everything I ate and drank and when it happened again to call in because they were very concerned that I would go into preterm labor!
I did as the doctor told me and with in a few days I had an “episode” That day I had a bowl of cheerios, strawberry’s, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Chix mix, steak, baked potato, rolls tea and water. I called the doctor the next day and told him I was sick that night and let him know everything I ate that day..Which nothing was new to my diet. He asked if I had been eating a lot of peanuts or peanut butter lately. I told him yes I have been craving peanut butter and apple jelly sandwiches and eat one every few days. He told me to stop eating anything with peanuts in it and after my baby was born I needed to do an allergy test because he was 99.9% sure I developed a peanut allergy!
Are you as confused as I was??? Adults don’t just don’t “develop” a peanut allergy…Well that is what I thought a I thought wrong you can develop ANY food allergy at ANY age! And the only reaction to a peanut allergy was the life treating kind you know the your throat swelling shut …I thought wrong again. You can have the life threatening kind and I guess thankfully the kind I have that is most common and affects your digestive system with Nashua, Vomiting, and
poop soup diarrhea.
I have to really watch what I eat and read product labels and if I go to a cookout out or out to dinner I always have to ask if there is peanuts in anything. I was annoying at first but now its like second nature! I was very scared to give Emma peanut butter but she did fine and is now a huge peanut fan. It won’t be long until I will have to give Mason the dreaded peanut test hopefully he will do just as well!
Do you know someone with a peanut allergy?
